Job Information

The post is to support Directors/Heads of Service and the Business Transformation and Governance Team in their respective roles by ensuring a flexible approach is maintained in the provision of high quality administrative/secretarial support. Responsible for the overall administration of those officers including co-ordination of yearly plan of meetings, booking venues, preparation of agenda/supporting papers, taking minutes and taking relevant follow-up action. Act as a key link and central point of contact for staff and the public providing information and advice as necessary.  

 

The post will be based within the Adult Services Directorate of Northumberland County Council and will provide support to the senior management team. The role will also report into and support the Business Transformation and Governance team which is responsible for Adult Services Governance, Transformation, Service Improvement and Communications. This will allow for involvement in a wide variety of tasks and the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their knowledge and skills. 

 

We are looking for a candidate that is motivated and enjoys a challenge as well as having: 

  • Significant experience in a senior secretarial position, in taking minutes and diary management. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Extensive skills in the use of Microsoft Office. (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) 

  • The ability to resolve problems and work on own initiative exercising due care and attention to detail 

  • The ability to plan and prioritise work, to set and work to deadlines. 

 

The post will be based at County Hall, Morpeth. 

However, there will be the option for agile working and working from home on a rota basis. 

 

The salary is £26,421 - £28,770 per annum. 

The role is permanent. 


The successful candidate will show: 

  • Good general education demonstrating numeracy and literacy. 

  • NVQ 3 Business Administration or an equivalent portfolio of experience. 

  • RSA III typing qualification or an equivalent demonstrable competency, for example ECDL. 

  • Significant experience in a senior secretarial / personal assistant position. 

  • Experience in taking minutes and diary management.
