About the Role
We’re offering a genuinely career-defining chance to shape and lead a forward-thinking Pollution Control team in the Northeast. As the Environmental Heath Manager (Pollution Control), you will be at the forefront of delivering a high-performing service that ensures full compliance with the relevant legislative requirements and support ongoing technical development.
You will also lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Council’s Pollution Control service by driving innovation, consistency, and quality in everything we do.
Your leadership will guide a skilled team, fostering professional development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management. You’ll also oversee complex and high-risk cases, offering expert advice and ensuring robust risk management across areas including LAPPC, Air Quality, PWS, noise and nuisance.
Significantly, you will also be a key member of the wider Public Health, Inequalities & Stronger Communities Directorate. We see the Pollution Control team a key part of how we shape the future public health and economic growth agendas of the County.

About The Role
- Lead and manage the Pollution Control team, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards and act as the primary liaison with relevant national regulators.
- Drive continuous improvement through strategic planning and operational delivery.
- Manage risks proactively, including regulatory compliance.
- Provide expert guidance on complex and high-risk cases.
About You
- Proven experience in Environmental Health management at both strategic and operational levels.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop others.
- Have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A passion for innovation and service transformation.
- In-depth knowledge of legislation around Pollution Control and hold the relevant qualifications.
