An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time (37 hours), permanent Team supervisor in the Enquiry and Referral Coordinators Team, based at Foundry House Bedlington.
The Enquiry and Referral Coordinators Team is the first point of contact for Adults in Northumberland with care and support needs. The team deal with enquiries from residents and professionals, providing assessments / advice over the telephone to establish which service can best deal with the needs of the caller. We have strong links with specialist community services and provide signposting for other teams /partners in the county. We assist with hospital discharges and are the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns.
The Team supervisor provides:
direct line management support to the staff in the team, this involves, amongst other tasks
planning and managing the staff rotas
organising and allocating work to the team
responsibility for the regular supervision of staff and the annual appraisals
co-ordinating the work of the team
delegating work appropriately
providing clear guidance and motivating staff to achieve service objectives, quality standards and KPI’s.
The Team supervisor works closely and collaboratively with the Team Manager and the Senior manager of the service to ensure the demands of the service are met and will regularly review and implement new procedures and guidelines as appropriate in line with any changes of provision due to changes in legislation and service delivery.

The role requires someone who can work well as part of a team and ideally has the necessary management experience to provide the appropriate support to the team and the wider management team. It is vital that you are a good communicator and can remain calm in sometimes difficult situations. The ability to be proactive, and to put forward ideas to improve service delivery is welcomed. The successful candidate will have experience of working with IT systems and be able to contribute towards the ongoing development of the team.
Salary: NCC Band 6: £27,344 - £30,151
Essential Criteria:
- A level or equivalent
- Continuous Professional Development
- Ability to supervise and develop a team
- Experience of performance management
- Experience of conducting supervisions and appraisals
- Conflict management skills
- Ability to deal with abusive / aggressive and threatening behaviour that can place emotional demands on the post holder
- Some exposure to disagreeable people / situations and related behaviour
- Evidence of strong analytical skills to interpret data High level of IT skills
- Knowledge of care management and GDPR
