THE SERVICE
The Northumberland Skills service delivers employment and skills support to residents across Northumberland delivering employability programmes that include The DWP Better Working Futures Programme and Restart scheme. All programmes are part of NCC’s wider response to help unemployed residents move back into and towards work. Due to the expansion of the service, we are now recruiting an Employment Adviser to work in the North of the County covering Alnwick and Berwick. We wish to recruit an individual who can manage a high volume of participants and who is able to build rapport, show empathy, motivate people, and help jobseekers to find and sustain employment.
ROLE OF THE JOB
The primary function of an Employment Adviser is to manage a caseload of customers offering a coordinated offer of employability support to move them into work. You will do this by offering appropriate Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) to address employment barriers, both, immediate and long term. The service is looking to appoint individuals who can demonstrate experience in a similar or transferable role. Working across Northumberland you must have the ability to manage our own workload effectively, be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, whilst being responsive and flexible to new demands.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Meeting with a high volume of jobseekers, identifying any challenges and barriers with finding employment and creating an agreed action plan
Providing your customers with a programme of support that will lead to sustained employment, informed by local labour market needs
Booking jobseekers on to any relevant training or health and wellbeing courses that will help them to move towards work or gain new transferable skills
Supporting jobseekers with CV writing and the job application process
Liaising with employers, recruitment agencies to identify suitable and appropriate employment opportunities
You will support your customers on a face-to-face basis ensuring that you meet programme customer service standards and achieve performance KPI’s.
You will have an eye for detail and the ability to complete accurate and compliant customer paperwork, follow programme guidance, use CRM systems, and compete accurate financial records. It is essential that you have a can-do attitude and have experience in achieving performance and quality assurance targets.
