Position: Housing Services Electrician
Location: Alnwick (Northumberland) 
Type: Temporary (End Date, 31st October 2024, with potential for an extension and further ad-hoc shifts / assignments)

 

Northumberland County Council is looking for a qualified Electrician to join our team through the Staff Bank. This is a temporary role with the possibility of additional shifts and future assignments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform full rewire installations, repairs, and maintenance on the Council’s housing stock.
  • Conduct fault finding, testing, and certification of electrical installations in line with industry standards.
  • Work closely with tenants, internal teams, and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality service.
  • Mentor and supervise apprentices, supporting their development and training.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold 18th Edition certification and City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent).
  • Substantial experience in electrical testing, fault finding, and working with IEE and NICEIC regulations.
  • Competent in using IT systems relevant to the role, including EasyCert.

 

Requirements:

  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional out-of-hours support.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank provides a pool of highly skilled temporary workers who are looking for a long-term placement, or who want to work flexibly within the council. If a team needs support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These can be filled via a long-term assignment for up to 12 months or on an ad hoc basis.

The Staff Bank is managed by the Temporary Staffing Team, who you can contact via temporarystaffing@northumberland.gov.uk.
