Electrician Apprentice 

 

Please note: Successful applicants must be available for interview week commencing 14th July. These posts will commence in September 2025. 

 

This apprenticeship will last for a duration of 48 months. The training is delivered by Northumberland Skills and you will be required to attend training at Pitt Lane, Front St, Seghill, Cramlington NE23 7EB 

 

What the candidate will be doing on a day-to-day basis 

The successful candidate will be working within our team to complete day to day electrical repairs such as changing electrical accessories, they will also be carrying out electrical testing and fault finding in empty and occupied properties. The candidate will be responsible for getting to and from Cowley Road each day and carrying out any tasks given to the best of their ability. 


Background on department 

Our department was set up to carry out electrical testing in all 8600 council properties across Northumberland. We are due to complete these by March 2026 and then periodically test them all again over a 4 year program. We are also a part of the Damp and Minor works team so the candidate will be involved in other trades such as plumbing and joinery. This will give them a wide range of skills and knowledge.  

 

Type of person we are looking for 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and expand their knowledge and skills through hands-on experience.  

 

Likes to work as part of a team, on a variety of tasks with short deadlines. To be able to work on their own where relevant.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB  

  • Maths and English GCSE (or Equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above
  • Familiar with IT systems, eg. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • To be enrolled at college and gain an NVQ level 3 and 18th edition
  • To have a valid UK driving license as soon as possible
