Economic Growth Strategy Manager

Job Information

ROLE OF THE JOB

Are you passionate about inclusive economic growth and supporting vibrant, inclusive communities?

Northumberland County Council is seeking a highly motivated Economic Growth Strategy Manager to drive forward our ambitious agenda for inclusive growth, innovation, and opportunity.

Northumberland is an ambitious County and there is a lot happening!  With vibrant market towns, beautiful rural landscapes, a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and emerging growth sectors, we are proud of our unique identity. Northumberland County Council has clear plans to tackle inequality, deliver value for money for our residents and businesses and support economic growth.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of the Northumberland Economic Strategy, helping to build a county where people want to live, work, and thrive.  In this key role, you will provide expert professional and technical advice on economic development and growth issues, translating national policy into local plans and actionable objectives. Working closely with the Head of Economic Development, you will champion Northumberland’s interests at regional and national levels.

What we are looking for:

You will bring strong technical knowledge of economic development strategy and delivery paired with innovative thinking and excellent commissioning skills. Your collaborative approach will help shape local and regional partnerships and deliver real, positive change for communities and businesses across Northumberland - from our bustling towns to our most remote rural villages.

You will also have:

  • A strong background in economic development, strategy development, and delivery at a senior level
  • Knowledge of rural growth issues
  • Experience managing professional teams and leading change in a complex environment.
  • Strong partnership and stakeholder engagement skills across public, private, and voluntary sectors.
  • Innovative thinking and the ability to drive continuous service improvement.
  • Highly skilled communicator, negotiator, and influencer at all levels.

Northumberland offers a unique blend of stunning rural landscapes, vibrant communities, and exciting economic opportunities. At Northumberland County Council, you will be part of a team that's committed to making a lasting impact — for our residents, our businesses, and our future.

If you're ready to shape the future of Northumberland, we would love to hear from you. For more information contact Maria Antoniou, Head of Economic Development, maria.antoniou@northumberland.gov.uk
