Northumberland County Council is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated Education Intervention Worker to join our multi-disciplinary ESLAC (Education Support for Looked After Children) team that supports the education of looked after children and care leavers, initially on a 24 month fixed term contract.  The post holder will report to the Virtual School Lead Teacher

You will have an active role in the Virtual School for Looked After Children, contributing to raising aspirations and improving achievement for children in care. You will oversee and support a caseload of looked after children who may have complex behavioural difficulties, SEND or attendance issues. Supporting Designated Teachers and care teams to create stable learning environments, breaking down barriers and supporting pupils to do the best they can in education

You will work in collaboration with schools and professionals to ensure all looked after children have a high quality PEP, Personal Education Plan in place, within statutory timescales and attend care team and Looked after reviews as necessary.

The role will include direct work with looked after children, including 1:1 work, and delivering therapeutic interventions e.g Thrive as and when needed.

The post is initially for 24 months on a fixed term contract, 30 hours per week.  Band 5

Employment Location: Virtual School, Northumbria House, Cramlington
