Direct Payments Support Worker
The Successful Candidate will be based at County Hall, Morpeth but will provide County Wide Support. This is a permanent, full time (37 hours) position, NCC Salary Band 7 £31,099 - £34,723
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced team with enthusiastic and experienced Direct Payment Support Workers.
- To Support Children and Adults through the Direct Payment process to safely and legally recruit and continually offer support in relation to employment and all aspects of their Direct Payment.
- Providing and receiving complex, sensitive, or contentious information, where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training, empathic or re-assurance skills are required.
- To Support with advertising, recruitment, and interviewing applicants with Direct Payment recipient.
- To Support Direct Payment recipient with employer responsibilities, i.e register with payroll company, Contracts of employment, Liability Insurance.
- To calculate and verify payment to be made to Direct Payment recipient via Finance Department.
- Provide Direct Payment training to Care Managers, Social Worker, Health Colleagues, and any other professionals as requested.
- Liase with Contract Section, Care Managers, Finance, and other colleagues in relation to costing care packages, and resolving queries and finance issues.
We are a team of 14 made up of the following roles:
- 1 Team Manager
- 2 Senior Direct Payment Support Workers
- 7 including Vacant Post Direct Payment Support Workers
- 3 Admin Assistants
- 1 DP Finance and Audit Officer
You must have:
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to relate and build a rapport with people of all backgrounds at all levels.
- Problem solving skills to enable effective and efficient resolution of concerns and queries from care managers, service users.
- Ability to implement unpopular decisions when necessary.
- Ability to work with limited direction away from office base or as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult and sometimes hostile situations.
- Ability to liaise and network with a wide range of agencies.
- Ability to use word processing and information technology and compile and analyse relevant data.
- Organisational skills.
- Ability to work to and plan for deadlines.
- Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post.
Essential Criteria

Degree or relevant significant experience within a Finance, Customer Service, Human Resources or Social Care role

Valid UK Driving License
