The Role of the Job
Northumberland County Council Strategic Housing Service is looking to recruit an exciting new role for the council. As the Community and Housing Programme Manager, you will be working for the Hirst Strategic Lead, accountable to an advisory board of key stakeholders in the Hirst, leading on the delivery of the Hirst Masterplan. You’ll be building and maintaining community partnerships across the Hirst area of Ashington. 
Part of a team responsible for a community-led housing renewal programme defined in the Hirst Masterplan, you will be pivotal to the success of this hugely ambitious new scheme.   
You will be based in the Hirst, providing a critical key point of contact for residents, landlords and community partners.  You will be supporting community-led initiatives and be the key point of contact in the community as the masterplan is delivered. 
 
This is a three-year fixed term contract, with the opportunity to extend, should funding generation allow. The post is a Band 8 with a starting salary of £37,366

Requirements of the Job
If you have a sound working knowledge of large-scale housing renewal, community development and capital funding acquisition process along with a positive attitude and a wish to seek and deliver solutions, then we would like to hear from you. 
 We require; 
  • An enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated individual. 
  • You should be able to work under your own initiative and effectively in partnership with colleagues, residents, landlords, Elected Members, Parish Councils and other stakeholders in order to drive the delivery of the Hirst Masterplan. 
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., social work, health, housing) or qualified to degree level 
  • In depth working knowledge of the main operational, procedural and practical issues relating to Housing Management  
  • Knowledge of current policy and legislative agenda in relation to Housing. 
  • Knowledge and experience of community development tools, the public involvement and prevention agendas, and asset-based community development work acquired through experience or qualification to degree level or equivalent. 
  • Experience of organising and coordinating community events and activities 
  • Experience of delivering housing renewal and regeneration interventions 
  • Experience of partnership working, including successful collaborative working with communities, groups and the voluntary sector
 
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a participative assessment centre for review, and if successful will be invited to return for an in-depth interview.
