We are currently looking to recruit a dynamic, committed, and knowledgeable individual to enhance our Community Safety Team in the role of Community Safety Officer (CSO). This key position will provide a problem solving, investigative and case management function as well as delivering community engagement, reassurance, and positive outcomes to the aims of the Safer Northumberland Community Safety Partnership, by ensuring and promoting thriving communities across Northumberland.

You will work within our busy team to help ensure we are providing high quality support and deliver effective solutions to Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) and crime and disorder matters. This involves direct contact with members of the public, and therefore requires a high degree of effective communication skills, professional understanding of issues and an empathetic approach. You will work in close collaboration with internal and external partners ensuring effective and successful performance to tackle ASB and crime and disorder.

To be successful, you will need to have relevant role related experience, knowledge of legislation, professional guidance, best practice, and the application of this in a professional context, utilising a problem-solving approach, investigative methods and techniques, case management and the effective use of preventative and diversionary interventions. You should be self-motivated and be able to build strong effective relationships with a wide range of agencies and partners with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work autonomously.

Successful candidates will work on a specific funded initiative, working with a range of partners, seeking to deliver a focused approach to deterring and tackling ASB in our communities and across and linked to transport networks within Northumberland. The CSO role will be pivotal to the overall aim of this project to deter ASB and intervene early to prevent escalation, identifying offenders and take enforcement action where necessary.

This Community Safety team forms part of the broader Northumberland Communities Together (NCT), dealing with a wide range of issues which affect our local communities and sits within the Public Health, Inequalities and Stronger Communities Directorate.

· This is a 12 month Fixed term, Band 7 position (£33,024 - £36,648), which subject to continued funding may be extended further.

· Although based at West Hartford Community Fire Station (West Hartford Business Park, NE23 3JP) the role will require a flexible approach, with some weekend and evening working.


Requirements:

Experience of managing, investigating, and resolving ASB and crime and disorder issues within a local authority or another professional context.

Experience of community engagement, problem solving, and multi-agency work within a local authority or another professional context.

Full UK Driving Licence.
