The Service

The Community and Environmental Health Team (CEHT) is part of the Council’s Public Protection Service which is responsible for a wide range of regulatory functions including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Building Control, Community Safety, and Environmental Enforcement.

With 18 staff the CEHT areas of responsibilities include noise control and other nuisance investigation, housing standards, public health and both operational and strategic community safety. Reporting to the Senior Community Safety Officer, the successful applicant will provide support to the operational Community Safety team.

This is a fast paced environment with a focus on outcomes for residents with a highly varied workload reflecting the mixed urban and rural character of the County.


The Role

The post holder will provide administrative and initial technical support to a busy Community Safety team. Central to the role will be the co-ordination, organisation and support to a number of multi-agency partnerships, including preparing agendas, circulation of papers, minute taking and updating action plans. Other duties will include liaison with service users and assisting with investigations and case management.

Candidates should have significant administrative experience including minute taking at meetings and good IT skills. Experience of community safety, multi-agency or partnership working is desirable.

A strong commitment to self-development is essential as is the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and undertake project work.

· A salary of £26,421 - £28,770

Essential requirements:

Applicants must,

· Have an administrative qualification for example, NVQ level 3.

· Have significant experience in providing administrative support.


Derisible requirements:

· Knowledge or experience of community safety.

· Knowledge or experience of partnership or multi-agency working in particular, Community Safety Partnerships.

· Case management and investigative skills.
