Community Assistant

Fixed Term until 31.03.29
As a Community Assistant, you’ll help create a welcoming, user focused environment at our Community Hubs in Cramlington and Newbiggin.
Your daily tasks may include:
  • Serving food and drinks in our café and bar
  • Basic food preparation and making coffees on our barista machine
  • Assisting with bookings and maintaining a friendly environment for all hub users
  • Carrying out light cleaning and safety tasks to keep the hub in great shape
  • Supporting the setup of rooms for events and assisting with community sessions
  • Opening and closing the Hub as required
  • Providing basic digital and device support to visitors
We run a range of events on evenings and weekends across our Hubs. These shifts may involve:
  • Room setups
  • Serving in the café and bar
  • General hub duties
  • Opening and closing the Hub
  • Supporting our Café Managers and Hub Coordinators
What We’re Looking For:
We need people who are community-oriented, approachable, and ready to lend a hand wherever needed. If you have:
  • A good general education, numeracy, and literacy skills
  • Awareness of health and safety practices
  • Basic food hygiene knowledge or certification (desirable but not essential)
  • Bar and hospitality experience, including handling food and drinks (desirable but not essential)

Working pattern is to be discussed at interview, please note: at least 1 x shift per week will be based in the Learning Cafe at Cramlington Hub.
