Catering Assistant (16.5 Hours per week) - West Hartford Fire Station, Cramlington

Staff Bank 

Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank offers a pool of highly skilled temporary workers seeking short-term placements or flexible working opportunities within the council. When a team requires support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they can call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These assignments may be offered as long-term placements of up to three months or on an ad hoc basis 

 

Day to Day duties include:

  • Preparation, cooking and service of food and beverages
  • Setting up of the dining area, including washing tables etc.
  • Packing meals for transport to other locations where appropriate.
  • Transport meals between kitchen and serving or dining area as necessary
  • Serving customers.

About you:

  • Experience of general kitchen duties 
  • Cooking experience in catering establishment
  • Ability to serve and communicate effectively with customers

Location and working pattern:

  • West Harford Fire Service H.Q, Cramlington, NE23 3JP
  • Monday, Tuesday and Friday: 8am - 2pm each day

 Desirable experience and qualifications:

  • Basic food hygiene certificate  
  • Nationally recognised qualification e.g. City & Guilds 706/1, NVQ
  • Level 1 or 2 – Food preparation and cooking or equivalent 

An enhanced DBS Disclosure will be required for this post. Candidates already signed up to the DBS Update Service would be desirable.

The Staff Bank is managed by the Temporary Staffing Team, who you can contact via temporarystaffing@northumberland.gov.uk. You will be subject to Northumberland County Council's pre-employment checking process which includes a minimum of 2 references covering the past 3 years, health clearance and proof of right to work in the UK and depending on the assignment you may be required to undertake a DBS check.
