Care Worker - The Northstar Centre 

Part time 18 hours | Fixed term – 12 months | £13.68 per hour 

Looking for a care role that’s a bit different? 

At the Northstar Performing Arts Day Centre, care is about more than personal support, it’s about helping people express themselves, build confidence and have fun through music, drama and creativity. 

You’ll support adults with learning disabilities to: 

  • Take part in creative activities like drama, music and dance
  • Build confidence, independence and social connections
  • Access their community and try new experiences

From drumming sessions to theatre performances, you’ll be part of a team that helps people shine.
 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Providing day-to-day care and support to a young man (including personal care and medication)
  • Supporting the client to engage in meaningful activities, encouraging participation, confidence and social inclusion
  • Promoting the development of independent living skills in a safe and supportive environment
  • Acting as a keyworker and keeping accurate records
  • Working closely with colleagues, families and carers

  • A positive, enthusiastic team player
  • Someone creative, patient and willing to get involved
  • A strong commitment to delivering person-centred care, ensuring support is tailored to individual needs, interests and preferences
  • Ability to encourage choice, independence and opportunities that are meaningful to the individual
  • Good communication and a caring approach
  • Experience is welcome, but full training (including Makaton) will be provided.

About the role: 

  • Shift pattern – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:30am – 3:30pm
  • Based in Berwick (Northstar Centre)
