Role of the job
This is an existing role with exciting and significant opportunities to help shape and develop the delivery of regulatory and associated activities, to help support and promote a fair-trading environment, thriving economy and high standards of building design and safety. We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated manager to work within our regulatory functions remit. The post holder will report to the Head of Public Protection and will be expected to make an active contribution to the overall development of services, people and the culture within the service.
This is a permanent position, based within the Public Protection Service, which sits within a directorate with Fire and Rescue, Corporate Health and Safety and Civil Contingences. The Public Protection function is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of regulatory and enforcement activities, which are delivered across two business units, Business Compliance and Public Safety, and Public Health Protection.
You will have an understanding of local authority regulatory functions and will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the following teams:
Trading Standards and Animal Health
Licensing
Building Control and Land Charges
Pest Control
You will also provide leadership and direction for the Business Compliance and Public Safety Unit.
You will act as a positive member of the Public Protection Senior Officer Group, encouraging collaboration and enthusiasm for effective management, inspiring a culture that delivers results and service excellence, promoting the NCC values and brand. Develop and manage key relationships with both internal and external partners, including Balance, Fresh and local and regional professional bodies.
We are looking for someone who is bold, creative and an agile thinker who can help us move forwards and innovate, and ensure we work in the smartest way possible.
The position is based at our main office at West Hartford Business Park, Cramlington. Currently the service operates a hybrid system in terms of days in and out of the office.
A comprehensive knowledge and future challenges in the field of regulatory services
Relevant degree or relevant professional qualification and evidence of continual professional development.
A strong record of demonstratable achievements at senior level in an organisation of comparable size and complexity to NCC in the strategic management and delivery of regulatory services.
