Benefit Assessment Officer
Fixed Term until 31/03/2026

The role
We are looking to appoint a Benefit Assessment Officer to work as part of the Benefits Team based in Morpeth and with the opportunity for flexible location working. The successful applicant will be required to assess and maintain claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support; answer customers’ enquiries and give them relevant advice. A key role is to encourage benefit take-up and the prompt reporting of changes.
The Benefits Team continues to be high profile and provides vital support to our residents and this role is key in delivering an efficient and timely application process.

Requirements
You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at ease with customers to request information and provide advice in connection with their applications. You will be confident using a range of IT systems such as Microsoft Office, Outlook and Teams. 
Experience/knowledge of working in a Benefits Team within a local authority would be an advantage but not necessary as full training will be given.
