Northumberland County Council is looking for a committed, confident and forward-thinking Assistant Democratic Services Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the Council's strategic decision-making processes within Democratic Services. In this challenging and varied post, you will work with the Team on a range of Committees and Working Groups and on wider democratic processes.
Tasks will include arranging and supporting meetings, drafting minutes and briefing papers and providing procedural advice to Members and officers. You will possess excellent communication, negotiation and IT skills, with strong political awareness and the ability to analyse problems and issues.
The ability to manage a diverse workload to deadlines, work to agreed procedures and translate complex information into clear, concise minutes is essential.
Experience of working in an administration role in a local authority or similar organisation would be an advantage as would an understanding of the legislative framework of local authority decision making.
This post is designated as a politically restricted post in accordance with the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
