Administrative Assistant - North

Job Information

Administration Assistant (full-time, fixed term to end December 2025) – North Locality Family Hub Team (Alnwick)

Do you want to join an enthusiastic and motivated Northumberland Family Service's administration team?

At Northumberland County Council we are proud of our employees, who are passionate and committed to improving outcomes for our children and young people, ensuring that they feel safe, healthy, happy, and ready to learn and achieve.

We are seeking an experienced Administration Assistant to join our small team on a fixed term full-time basis.

This is an exciting time for Northumberland. We are part of the national Family Hub Programme.

The principles of the Family Hub development are that we will be more accessible to families, better connected to drive progress on joining up and providing a whole family approach, and more relationship centred, building on family and community strengths.

Family Hubs offer services, universal and targeted for 0–19-year-olds (and 25 for young people with SEND), the delivery is based on a hub spoke and virtual model and provides a network of co-located, connected, virtual and digital services to support families through various interventions and programmes. This role of administrator at Alnwick Family Hub in the North locality is an important role in ensuring we are engaged with the families in our communities. This includes an efficient and effective front-line service for all visitors to our Family Hub via Reception and receiving telephone calls along with all aspects of administration required to enable the service to function effectively. The role will be very varied, fast paced and requires a high degree of accuracy. For further details about the role please see the Job Description and Person Specification.

We would like an experienced administrator who has worked in an office environment, someone who can demonstrate knowledge and skills and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 software.

You will need to be enthusiastic, with a positive, can-do attitude; enjoy supporting those around you; be a real team player and be committed to supporting our frontline staff who strive to give our children and young people the support they deserve for the brightest future they can have.

The main office base is in Alnwick, Northumberland, however staff will be required to cover other North Admin Family Hubs (Berwick and Hadston) and may need to support other localities across the County to meet service requirements.

We are recruiting a fixed term full-time Administration Assistant.

The above post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, references and health clearances.
