ROLE OF THE JOB
Northumberland County Council are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Accountancy Assistant Level 1 to bring into our Corporate Finance Team.  The role will be primarily supporting the Corporate Services Directorate, along with other support throughout other Council services if required.

This is a key role within the team and will entail working with team members and service managers to prepare monthly reporting data whilst delivering an accurate, insightful level of financial advice and support to the service to enable the Council to achieve its goals and objectives.   

The job encourages a proactive and positive approach to work and would benefit a candidate who is strong and independent and able to work unsupervised, but who also works well with others at varying levels of seniority throughout the Council.
It is essential that the post holder has effective IT skills and is able to manipulate and interpret data to be able to assist with finance queries and provide solid financial recommendations which may assist in financial decisions made by the Council.
It will be beneficial to have a good understanding of Local Government finance particularly around reconciliations and final accounts.
The team operate a hybrid working model, primarily based out of County Hall, Morpeth one day per week which encourages a positive work life balance.

Salary:- Band 5 £26,421- £28,770
Contract Type:- Permanent

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
  • At least 5 GSCE’s at Grade C or above (including Maths and English) or equivalent qualifications
  • Knowledge of the main operational procedural and practical issues relating to finance.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with Service users.
  • Effective IT skills and able to use ITC to achieve work objectives.
